When was the last time you were completely immersed? In something you love, in sensations within your body, where time seemed to disappear in the best possible way?
Last week, I had about 5 days with a mostly empty house. I had no obligations to anyone else. No meals to prepare, just a cat and a needy dog and a 21 year old to chat to after 5pm. I used this glorious chunk of me time to attend a yoga conference online with amazing teachers, plus do a course with Oliver Burkeman, the guru of Imperfection.
It was so lovely to put my everyday stuff aside and simply focus on the wisdom that was shared. I stocked the fridge with healthy snacks, propped myself up on bolsters and rolled around on my blue squishy ball while I let my mind absorb all these new ways of thinking, of being. I meditated and moved and left the world outside while I expanded my interior world.
When it was over, I felt like I was returning to the surface after scuba diving, slowly allowing my body to integrate back into reality. I have held on to this sense of calm - it's like I can revisit it in my mind when life gets a bit crazy. It was a great reminder that immersion and focused attention is really good for us physically and emotionally, as well as mentally.
I have since turned my focused attention to planning for the Retreat in Yallingup in May. I want to offer you this sense of refuge, of retreating from normal life and allowing yourself to get lost in - well, yourself. Lost in your own interiority. Lost in your own curiosity. The freedom for your mind to wander, to wonder, to ponder. To find this deep sense of calm, where the busyness of everyday life fades into the background, and you can find your own spaciousness.
Sometimes circumstances arise - like mine - where it is an easy choice and the space has been made. Other times we need to be a little more intentional and deliberately clear the decks and put ourselves first. Either way, those that are lucky enough to be in our lives benefit when we have had the opportunity to connect with ourselves, find refuge and a break from our daily routine of doing rather than being.
I would love you to join me and other like minded women for this retreat. If you are curious, if you are wondering if it is for you, if you have any concerns, I welcome the opportunity to chat and put your mind at ease.
Allow yourself to be immersed, refreshed and inspired.
With love,
Amanda xx
